Help me convert my 55 into a FOWLR tank!

I've been interested in converting my old 55 into a FOWLR SW tank and am finally taking the plunge!

My current equipment:

66g rated eheim canister(classic 2213)
70g HOB AQ filter
Standard heater


I plan on using live sand & rock and purchasing a protein skimmer.

I cannot build a sump as the stand does not have the room under it.

What protein skimmer would you suggest for a 55?(cheap but not crap please)

How would I change up the media in the canister/HOB?

Any other advice would be much appreciated!

Ditch the canister. It's a bad idea to keep it. If I were you I would invest in a good protein skimmer rated for 100gallons. And also get a hob refugium. That's what I did
