Gars are better off by themselves or with other gars. Gars also tend to grow pretty big, they need space, so as soon as you can buy a large tank- remember the rule, the bigger the better. these guys can get up to 4ft and then some. So a 55gal is 48 inches which is 4ft so he needs bigger than that to move around a 75gal wont cut it because its not nearly enough space to turn in. anything in the 100 gal up will do the job. (perferrably 125 and up)

can we get a view of the entire tank. buy a cheap tape measure and measure it out.

yeah the hammerheads what i mention is the ID sharks.. sorry for the misunderstanding.. i just measure my gar lately and its just 7 inch.. sorry!

Best thing to do is eeither get a much larger tank now, or get rid of the gar and find someting suitable for your tank.

i will upgrade it this march dont you worry.. i just got a 50 gallon tank from my auntie.. and i dont want to get rid of it.. its only 7 inch..

a 55 isnt going to hold him for life, get a much larger tank 180 plus at least.

that is a ten gallon. a ten is about 1.5 coke bottle tall(just under) and just under 3 coke bottle long.
Ull need a bigger tank really soon. man. bigger than a 50g. most 50 are 12" wide. find something 18" wide at the least. try for at bare minimum(hopefully a good bit larger) 4' by 18" footprint(sry i dont know metric)
