Hmmm they make good dithers too! Although they grow fairly fast I thought? Anything else that you guys can think of that is a slow grower?

I like Geos as well, especially Altifrons. Severums are a nice addition too, primarily the Super Red.

I keep tetras, pictus cats, bristlenose plecos, striped Raphael, and geos with my hystrix. Hystrix pups are small and grow slow, so I would pick tank mates carefully at this size.

I have mine in with a juvie colony of Kitumba frontosas, and a mix of rainbow fish. A little hodge-podged, I guess... but I like the look. Rainbows largely stay up top, fronts stay middle to lower, and of course, except when playing, my hystrix stays on the bottom. Activity at every level.
