yep that thread pretty much sums it up. Most people don't keep theirs longer than 3 years. It's a designer fish that people treat like leasing a pretty car or rent a center furniture. Those that do keep theirs around can expect a life expectancy of about 4 to 10 years LOL It's a genetic grab bag with hybrids. They're mutts bred by people who probably didn't have their best interests in mind health wise. I have noticed the fish that live longer than 5 years usually have a real big tank or aquarium to themselves. Give your fish the best life you can, stress kills- the rest is up to genetics
