20% MINIMUM for good service !! 30% for outstanding service. Whats wrong with you people claiming 15% maximum ?? Have a go at working in the service industry and you will change your tune really quick.

Worked in the service industry for years. Bad service anywhere from 0 - 15%. If I get good service 20% or more. Bar could be even more if drinks are strong and I don't have to always get their attention. Good bartenders give me the next drink as I am finishing the one I have.

I won't automatically serve you another drink as you finish it, but I will know your name, and I will ask you by name if you are ready for another. Remembering a customers name will go a long way.

if people tipped decent, they probably would be. when I delivered pizza's I had to make 5 trips to deliver over 400$ in pizzas and got $1.43.
:woot: and since it was one order I got a whole 50 cents delivery allowance. sure made the 20+ miles worth it.

Good service - 20%. Bad service - depends. People (in the U.S.) who go out for a nice dinner, run up a huge tab, receive excellent service, then leave anywhere from 0-5% tip are complete scumbags. These people work their butts off and make $3/hr. If you don't have the money to tip appropriately, you shouldn't be eating out
