Word what hillbilly said. If you really wanna pump these guys for max growth feeding everyday is a necessary. When my little bass with less than 4" he was in a growout tank with 50 feeders at a time, never starving lol. Now I feed him shrimp every other day
I was told that putting that many fish in there was bad because i was buying 44 at a time and throwing them in there and feeding them pellets but the guy said that they could eat themselves to death said they dont get the bloated feeling that we get after thanksgiving this was the owners word at Aquatic Critter mid tenn biggest fish seller thats why i cut back on feeding them everyday and keeping golds int there for them to eat so this guys full of poo ?

Not trying to frustrate people just get alot of dif info from different sources

Thanks for your help

you can feed them pellets at least twice a day (when they're not eating feeders). It's good that they're already on them. At that size, they should also have feeders, IMO, so that's good how you're doing that. They will dispatch of 44 feeders pretty quickly, so you should be okay. There's only a very small possibility that they will eat too much. They have a very high metabolic rate at that size. It's better to feed them fathead minnows (rosies) than goldfish, but if you keep the temp at 87 or higher, you shouldn't have any problems w/ goldfish, but they're not the best for them. However, goldfish once a week is probably going to be okay. I would give them fatheads to start and then shiners or something larger like shiners from a bait shop when they get a little bigger until they're 8 inches or so, but you can still give feeders as a treat after that.

Any member of the carp family make poor feeders. This includes goldfish, rosies, (fathead minnows) etc. These fish contain undesirable enzimes in their bodies that gets passed on to your fish. Swoardtails, mollies, and guppies is what I use, and are much healthier for your fish. The main reason I use these, is because they are also sold by suppliers as feeders, and the LFS I get them from orders me a half box (500) at a time for a good price. I take the unopened box, and the lady at the LFS does not have to handle it, so I get close to wholesale price. I take them home, put them in a 100 gal. rubbermaid stock tank with a filter, gut load them, and feed them as I need them. This has worked well so far, and I don't have to use carp type fishes.

And how did the MFK logo pop on there thats cool thank you :headbang2
You're doing things right.
That pic was probably only when you just got them from the lfs right?
They should fatten up in no time.
Having a mix isn't bad at all.
Some can look amazing.
