Introducing The Meanest Crays on MFK

Here's a quick pic of my new Murray River Crayfish (Euastacus Armatus)

I caught them over the wknd, will put some more pics up once i get them settled in

They are true monsters they hiss and rear their whole body up when you get your hand close enough

I have been after these for a while now and i belive they are basically non-existant in the hobby, however if anyone has sucessfully kept these monster crayfish any advice is welcome

Lucky you got some before the season was over.

I would imagine that they would need the water to be real cold through summer, as in the wild they go off the radar when it warms up. There is a little info about them in aquariums on this site http://www.nativefish.asn.au/

yeah sunday was the last day of the season

i saw that site when doing a bit of research beforehand, as i said above i dont really think many people have kept them so it mite be a bit touch and go come summer etc

nice, i wish we had more legal species over here, love the spikes on the carapace and abdomen
