Not only do the bird spikes make sense for your particular applications, they have an actual purpose, unlike some of the more radical ideas.

That seems such more reasonable from the law side of things if something were to happen.

Agreed. Although adding a few monster fish isn't THAT radical :p

Next to my bird spike suggestion. A more fun option would be a goat.... You already have the fence. And I have a goat that would be perfect.

Goat on one side of the yard, turkey on another, and a moat of piranha to keep them separate.
(seriously though, the big intimidating bird spikes sound like a good idea, and the goat/turkey might also be worth a shot if it's legal in your area.)
