can you have too much K1?? i mean as long as it "boils" properly it shouldnt matter right?

There is a point of diminishing returns where you will spend money on media potentially unused however there are no ill effects. Boiling being key

The recommended amount per the manufacturer is 60% K1 to 40% water. Seems odd to me but I guess that gives the best boil.

That goes for any media. There is no such thing as to much. So long as it is being used properly you can use as much as you want, however there is a point of diminishing return where there is more surface area than you need for your bacteria colonies. I am waaaay past that point at 50 pounds of ceramic bio media on a 60 gallon and 1.5 pounds on a 3 gallon tank.

Thanks.. I understand the point of diminishing return.. basically as my fish get bigger and I am now feeding more than 2x as much as before.. I have tested the parameters and all are fine with nitrates never getting past 10ppm .(it used to hang around 5ppm) I would like to add some more k1 as the waste and feeding increases but I do not want to wait for a spike before I react .
