you are going to need a hydrometer, which measures how "heavy" the water is, as salt and brackish weighs/gravity is more then fresh. Sea salt will do this and the best measurements I can find are 1.005-1.015, to live comfortably, although do not quote me on this because I have no expierence in brackish, but just knew that a columbian was offhand, and therefore mentioned it.

k i really dont want to have to fight with the sea salt and stuff so i will give him away to my friend who raises sharks. and i dont think the bichir would care for the sea salt to much! So my new question would be my g/f likes sharks what kind of shark can i get that lives in fresh water and dosent grow to be bigger than the tank i am getting?
