get some iridecent sharks they dont grow too quickly and will look great in yr tank, they also school

If you like the L. hoevenii barbs get them, I like mine, and I don't think I've seen a tank-raised one over 18" or so. But they're gluttons like tinfoil and other big barbs, so you might have to get creative with feeding your bichirs (feeding at night/in the dark should work).
A school of indo or pacific tarpon would look cool
