If you pull them out a lot, I wouldnt put them on a towel. That will pull their slime coat off of them faster than anything.

Did not think about that really thanks for the heads up, so just a regular surface? cause yeah i really dont wanna mess them up but these guys are so hardy

Knock on wood i have not lost 1 bass since i have started keeping them i have lost rays, bichirs and flagtails just no bass luckily

I would imagine a smooth plastic surface would be best if you were going to take them out. It will still take the slime coat off but it wont be as hard on the fish as the towel.
