That's how I done mine. My bottom panel was recessed about a half inch up inside the side panels. When I put it all back together I dropped it down flush with the bottom of the side panels.

That's partly the reason I ended up tearing the whole tank apart. The front panel had to come off and I had to cut the trim apart to get it off and I was kind of iffy about letting the bottom panel float without resting on the trim. I guess alternatively I could of cut a piece of foam to sit up in it but I felt safer about going the route I did.

Will this stuff work?

Alklandsgrainger here seems to carry loctite brand RTV silicone.

Does anyone have any tips on removing the glass panels? Marineland squished the side panels so tight to the front and back. Tried a knife tried Floss tried fishing line. Nothing will fit

Use 2 razor blades and start from the top and start with a long panel of glass rather than the sides. Get one blade started and slide it down until it gets tight and leave it stuck between the glass panels (this helps hold the glass panels apart far enough to get the second one started). Then take your other blade and start it just under where your first blade is stuck and work it down until it gets tight and then leave it. Now take your first blade out and start back with it just under your second blade. Continue working them back and forth until the panels are separated. It may take several passes to get it all the way through but once your first panel is off it goes a lot easier.

You might try the double edged razors for shaving to get it started. They're thinner than the ones made to fit in a scraper. Just be careful and use pliers to hold it.
