Just scored this little guy last week, been about 20 years since I traded in my old one. Finally have a tank big enough to grow out in. He comes out and feeds when the lights are on too! My old one was strictly lights off feeding. Seems to chill well with my Granulosus, who is just starting to feed with the lights on.

Cute title. Congrats! Pretty tank too.

MIne six irwinis are logs by day. I only hope they swim at night. Going from 240 gal to 4500 gal did not make much difference, only more assertive during feeding, leaving the usual corner and collecting pellets. When done feeding they go back and lay ~ motionless until next feeding. They are ~1'.

I hope things will change when they are bigger.

My 3 nigers 1.5', 1.5', and 3' are always swimming around.

My 3 Pterodoras granulosus are still small, ~5" but they still swim around every now and then in their 240 gal. They swim 10x-100x more than irwinis.

I know what you mean about them heading back aftet eating. He and my spotted raph both go straight back to their spots. As soon as he smells the Hikari Bio Gold hit the water, he comes out cruising. He snarfs them up and I target feed him NLS pellets. I think the Granulosus has grown an inch within the month.

I too had to rehome my 2 due to tank not big enough for them. Nice cat indeed and nice update.

I was on the verge of getting rid of my uraniscopis because it was so boring. I would have sworn it didn't move for a couple years! Now it swims in the open with the lights on. It is about a foot long now. I got at about 7" 3 years or so ago.

wow!

Nice growth there, I was about to say from the first post; that he'd be likely to become nocturnal as he got bigger, but that looks not to be the case!
