I think I just have to add to my list EBAs. I had mine a week and he may be my favorite fish. Such an inquisitive personality and overall very intelligent. He quickly picked up on who is feeding him, now I’m just working on getting him less camera shy and a beggar like my parrot is.

LOL I laughed when I saw this thread...

HRP, Rainbow are a hoot. Finger chasers and come up to say "hi."
My rainbow whacks around two synos twice his size.
HRP stays in his log and shoots out, popping anyone on his 'lawn.'

Ditto acaras...every one I've had are attentive, intelligent, full of mischief and playful. They seem to warm to you the quickest.

Dwarf Pike cichlids.

I had a small Crenicichla Regani that would follow me around, stalk behind things etc.

my house!!
Convicts are pretty personable and lively , my first fish was a convict. He lived in a 50g (36 x 18 x 18) by himself.Grew to be about 5-6 inches in 4 years.Sadly he passed away a few months ago. They can grow pretty big when kept in the right size tank, fed an appropriate diet.Don't forget sufficient water change :).
