Got bored so I decided to do a update on my catfish. Bought 4 spotted Raphael's @ 2" on New Years and today they all 4". Striped ones were bought after Thanksgiving @ 3" and they are 5". Surprised to see them so nice and fat considering I hardly ever see them.

Plus 3 Pimelodus blochii's. This is the newest addition after the other 2 constantly fight so I had to get another one to distribute the aggression.

Nice update. I love the growth info with pictures. Cannot beat that! We all should take notice.

So the 4-lines have been fighting between themselves after all. Has the 3rd helped?

I had two pims, I was surprised to see my smaller one the main aggressor because he was like 5 inches smaller at 7 inches vs the 12 inches one. He didn't win lol. But I did have him first so maybe that's why. Great pictures. I love the look of spotted raphaels over striped.

Thanks Hoplo

The stripe ones are more bold than the spotted but I agree moe214, spotted ones look nicer.

Thebiggerth: yes they have been fighting and with the addition of the third one, it seems to swim and hang out with the smaller one. Whenever those 2 swim by the big one, it will dart out of the cave and attack them until they leave its area.

Just looking at the way they act I'm guessing the 2 big ones are males and the small one is a female. But you never know...

When I bought the 2nd pim @ lfs it was separated from the 3rd one and another one at the lfs. That was a few weeks ago and then 3 days ago I went back and picked up the 3rd one from the same lfs. MY guess is that the 2 big ones were past tank mates and probably never got along. This morning got up and checked the 3rd one has broke is nose!

What do you mean "broke its nose"?

Yeah, sexing Pimelodus appears to be unknown. Anyone?
