Got this guy/gal from a LFS about 4-6 months ago. It was a trade in from someone who said it was too mean.Disn't know anything about it's care. It was about 4 inches when I got it and now after this time in a big enough tank, regular water changes and plenty of food it is only about 6 inches. Is it stunted and what are the chances it will still grow?

So no thoughts our suggestions from anyone? No ideas on stunting? Recovery? Sex? Glass cleaning shots? I expect more from this site.

If its been 4 to 6 months and its only grown 2 inches more than likely its stunted. It might grow some but not nearly to full potential

The Oscar doesn't look like it's in bad shape. I think it will probably continue to grow. Its continued growth and health will be determined by tank space, water changes, and diet. What is the size of the aquarium where it is currently housed? Any tank mates? The previous owner may not have had it long enough to cause permanent damage. I've seen other rescued fish live to grow and thrive under new care. Some were even considered stunted. Your Oscar may be putting on weight rather than length. I have young fish that grow this way periodically. It should eventually begin to grow larger and longer with time and care. Just be patient.

Since I've had him he has been in a 120, which I'm pretty sure covers big enough. No idea what it was in before and may be lucky that it's grown at all. Still hoping though.

Looks like he, or she, may be starting to grow a little. Here are a few shots also of being grumpy with the rainbow.

He's in a 120. Think he was stunted before as was a store return as noted in original post. He has grown, just no where near as fast as normal. Yes he eats a varied diet like a pig. Yes regular water changes are done. No nobody is picking on him. Any other questions?
