Looks like a Jewel Cichlid to me. I know they are from African rivers and stay on the smaller size. Can be pretty aggressive. I had one a long time ago...before I knew what I was getting, lol!

That Looks like one of the many species of jewels. Hard to tell

yes this is a Jewel, ...I just got a bunch from the LFS,they eat like crazy and 2 just paired off and started laying eggs. From what I have been reading keep them alone, they seem OK with the Convicts that I have, but they are growing faster than the Convicts.

He is eating right around 13 pellets of SNL daily right now.......Had him for three days-
Pic taken first day within hour of being into new tank....His color has changed greatly since this pic....
