Hello guys,
I've got new 55 gallon tank after cycle (40" \ 15" \ 21" )
I want to put inside central american cichlids..
I thought about 2 different setups, what do you think of them?

1) Working pair of Rainbow cichlid (Archocentrus multispinosus) with more 2-3 large schools of tetra \ neon. So the cichlid would be the "main" fish of the tank.

2) Stay with cichlids only and put few "large" cichlids like the Rainbow, firemouth, ellioti etc' (If so, what should I mix together?)

I want to try at least 1 working pair of cichlid and try to succesful breed them at the tank without them killing the other fish's.

What do you think? What should I do on that tank?

Same. Option 1.
I like option # 1 too.
yeah not all that much room for a pair and other cichlids, better off with first option
Thanks guys, can I stock together the smaller kind of schooling fish?
Like Neon Tetra, Rummynose Tetra, red zebra danio for the upper tank area.
Also, can I put inside live plants like Anobia, Echinodorus, Java Moss?

I like option 1 too.
I would be wary of fish like neons, they may become snacks.
A small group of platy would fair better.
