Ok some pics before his bed! The tank is hard to get overall with the light reflection from the water lettuce. That is what is left after I took all that out in the other pic!! The close ups are quite a bit lighter than he really is most of the time. I didn't try to take out the highlights or anything.

I have not seen him eat any fish, he slowly moves after some, but they run. I did find two that had head bitten off, but I don't know if they died and he found them or what.

Ordered 10lb of live crayfish tonight. Will freeze them. Come out to about 30 cents per crayfish shipped. IMG_2687.JPG IMG_2686.JPG IMG_2685.JPG IMG_2688.JPG

Crayfish from LACrayfish. 10lb shipped overnight for bit under $60. I got the smaller grade of crayfish so ~20 per lb = 200 cray / 60 is 30 cents per crayfish. Cheaper than my local bait store at least.

Sorry for the water noise, this was right after I took out 5g of snail shells and puffer poo.

The long roots keep it from messing with the overflow. Even the little plants I have had no issue with. I don't know if that is because there is a glass lip there where the back of the tank is cut.

Seems like there is always an issue with everything, I am amazed the lettuce doesn't clog it up! It does like to suck the danios into the sump though... They are fine and I just net them and put them back up top.

Nice setup, can you elaborate on the deworming and pazi regimen you used, and where you purchased the stuff? Thanks

I just bought prazipro from my LFS and followed the directions on the bottle. Pretty standard and mild stuff.

For wormer I have used a could things over the years. With discus I found Levamisole worked by far the best. I bought some off ebay, it's called prohibit.

From discus forum:

Prohibit Dose Recommendations
Total weight 52 gr
Total active ingredients (levamisole) 46.8 gr
Total active ingredients (levamisole) % 90.00%
Prohibit is 90% Levamisole 10% filler

Recommended Dosage 100% Levamisole per www.loaches.com Dr. Roy Yanong 2mg/liter or 2ppm/Liter
To get 1 gram you have to use 1.15 grams of Prohibit 2.3mg/Liter = 9mg/gal

Tank Calculations @ 9mg / gallon
10 gallon tank 100mg
15 gallon tank 150mg
20 gallon tank 200mg
30 gallon tank 300mg
40 gallon tank 350mg
55 gallon tank 500mg or .5 gram
65 gallon tank 600 mg
75 gallon tank 700 mg
90 gallon tank 800 mg
100 gallon tank 900 mg
110 gallon tank 1000mg or 1 gram

Crayfish came in today. Boy they stink! Some were dead, but no biggie since going right into the freezer and they had not been dead long enough for the flesh to turn white. Some big boys came in, the shell alone is over 5". Going to have enough crayfish for quite a while. I put one in today and he has been after it all morning. That is, I put it in dead, but he has been working at biting off chunks. 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg

Looks good! love the puffer and boil some large crayfish for yourself! If I were to have a solo fish it would be a fahaka for sure.
