New Salt Problems

Last week I started a 46 bowfront with instant ocean mix and a power head. I left it running for a week no fish or filter and I have developed a hard glave over the inside of the tank especially at the bottom. I was able to wipe off the sides of the glass but the bare bottom is real hard almost like I will have to get a razor after it. It is like the salt had dried, sounds stupid I guess. Has anybody else had this problem?

I have never had any problems with IO I use it for my salt. I have a 30 gallon brute I mix it in. the only thing I can think of is did u add any clacium sup to it. Sometimes kalk will do that, good luck

The only thing I did different was I added the chlorine remover 2 days later. Well I guess since it is on the bottom and covered by sand it should be no problem.

Its part of the cycling process. It may be hard to get off at times but will eventually sucumb. It will soon be replaced with algea.
