I really don't think you can visualy tell between a M or F.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the jar got a little a little beat up from swimming into the glass when he was scared or something. Then one day when I went out to feed them he was nowhere to be found. Searched around the tank for him, and found him moist behind the stand.
He jumped right pass that plastic piece on the glass tops.
