Paratilapia - female or male vents?

My paratilapia is 5 inches long and 10 months old.

Someone told me my paratilapia is finally mature enough to be vented, so I picked him up and took a picture of his privates.

I think he's a female? I just want to be sure.

The profile looks female too me at this point.
But if there is another more dominant male cichlid (of any kind) in the tank, that can influence forehead formation.
Here is a male profile.

I have had what I thought were females (if a more dominant males is removed, or died) develop overnight.

Ah, then later on maybe I should separate the 7-inch JD that he's living with for a week or two, just to make sure.
