Looks like impending doom to me. Hopefully can find them a bigger space before they kill each other.

It's spawning behavior. They are fine. Tank is fine.

Theo laid eggs once a few months ago. Since then it appears Luther does all he can to get her to lay eggs again. He moves plants and digs holes. Her tube dropped last week for a few minutes but that was it.
maybe it’s the earth eater that stops her.
They exhibit breeding behavior all the time.
Though they are inseparable, the aggression during feeding is now a bit common. Sort of like lions during a kill. I ignore it now and it helps if I leave the room.
Once they both start eating the aggression stops.

Interesting, I have always heard and believed that you need more than 2 to spread out the aggression even in a breeding situation.
