No idea what the plants are....I got them off a friend.
I got those plants for the reason you said.Steve,
These plants are water hyacinth, Eichhornia crassipes. These plants do an awesome job in removing organic compounds from the water. Did you get these to bloom? This species bears nice "orchid-looking" flowers.

I was never able to keep more than 2 aro together without ragged fins and fighting.
Tried 4 baby leichardtis once, didn't work. Still ripped fins.
