Plecos to be Banned!!!

This ban is only on wild caught species which are not listed as being allowable for export in the IBAMA document, gibbies have been commercially farmed for years and will not be affected, very few gibbies on the market are wild.
All other tank bred fish will be unaffected.

Well the IBAMA is enforced as much as possible, there is still a lot of plecos making here and all over the globe. Jeff Rapps just got in a huge shipment of hypans last week.

That majorly sucks...
but remember, less Plecos now=more Plecos in a few decades:headbang2
If its being done for environmental reasons...?

Read the thread again....this has nothing to do with the US making laws that we cannot own plecos. It is the export of plecos from Brazil that is banned by the gov't of Brazil, so they can't be exported anywhere by Brazil. If a pleco is captive bred or coming from somewhere other than Brazil, this law does not affect it in any way.

So basically if you can breed these banned plecos. I know easier said than done but you could get rich if it happens.
