I have searched all over and haven't come up with a definitive answer on this.
I was in the lfs the other day, and I asked the guy about bulk plant ferts for my 125 gallon. As you all know, dosing the lfs liquid ferts gets very expensive on larger tanks. The guy in recommended I use liquid pond ferts, according to the directions it is not recommended for aquariums. He said that they write that to discourage people from buying it due to it's lower cost. The instructions on the bottle say 1 cap-full is good for 265 gallons.
All the reading I have done suggests that it is OK, however, I should dose smaller than recommended and verify the ingredients.
So my questions are as follows:
1. Is it safe for aquariums?
2. If I am to check the ingredients, what should I be looking for?
3. Do I dose for 125 gallons or for less?
4. Does anyone have experience with this in there tanks?
P.S. Background on the tank, 125 gallon running CO2 with medium lighting.
Plants to date:
- Quite a bit of anubias
- Java Fern
- Java Fern Windelov
- Polysperma
- Some type of long grass (10+ inches)
- Bacopa
- Crytocoryne (not sure what species but quite large 12" or so)
