1.1.10 New Years Day update!
The first ray made it to the exhibit today. A small female Southern ray pup. After a clean bill of health (blood, skin scrape and fecal) earlier this week, she got a quick freshwater dip followed by a rinse (rinse post dip helps get rid of anything that the dip loosend up, but didn't clear the slim coat) and found herself in a new world.
Counting breaths while being dipped.
Me rinsing her off.
Into the pool.
Me watching her for the first few minutes to make sure she stays calm in her new home.
She was eating less than 10 minutes after being moved in. The girl feeding her is an intern who has worked under me learning about the conditioning of these guys in order for us to take better care of them.
