Pump size

So here is somewhat of a remedial question.
I finally shelled out the coin for a 96x48x30 acrylic and managed to get a sump box made by the same guys.
Currently I have a 240 with a 55G homemade sump and PVC returns I built myself.
The pump for returns is a 3200GPH submersible.
On the 500 there will be an inline SaeClear/oceanclear canister and a 40W UV.
The pump will be external to the sump. What size would best return the water?
With the tank being 30" and the stand being 30" the height would be 5'.

Any formula for right-sizing the return pump?
Seems easy but this is the first go round for me on filtration this big.

Thanks in advance,

Nice! Looking forward to seeing your setup.

In regards to pump sizing, we would need more info on what your goals are and then we can build the system to achieve those goals.

What turnover are you looking to achieve? Do you want to run the entire system on one pump?

The size of your overflows will determine the pump size. Your pump can't return more water to the tank than your overflows supply to the sump.
