REd tail act owner

Hi All, I am brand new to this site, discovered it by accident whilst searching for info on Gill Curl, looks a pretty cool site.

I have a 23inch RTC 2 1/2 years old that has developed a "rapid" gill curl, he is at present in a 72x24x24 inch tank soon to be relocated in to a large indoor vat. I do a 1/4 water change weekly. All water qualities and temperature are withing normal limits for the RTC. He eats sild, trout, muscle, heart and shell on prawns. He is quite active and hand tame.

Is gill curl fatal? Any advice on gill curl will be most welcome
