I was digging through some old threads on here and I just found out my Motaguense is probably a male! I'm so glad I got the 75 in the end for him and not just clear out the 55. That would have NOT worked! Anyways my father got home from buissness and I set up the 75 upstairs and he said I needed to move it that it would mess up stuff. So little Mota is in the 55 until I can cycle and set up his 75 again. And damn is he a mean fish. If anyone has been following my other threads they know that we took in 2 convicts and an Mbuna temporarily with the flowerhorn. He has whipped up on all of them. He doesn't even flare he just cuts to the chase and bites. Oddly he gets more pale when he is chasing fish lol. Anyways here he is in his hotel until I can fix up his home:) bag pic is from when I got him and last is a juvie male mota

Nice fish man food luck with him.

you can move some established media from your cycled filters into the filter on 75 if you want

Some of my favorite! I got 4 right now 3 growing out 2 females at about 3.5in and male a little over 4in and the large male just under 9in (thanks for the comment on him) I've had him for just over a year and he is just like u said doesn't flair up just cuts to the chase and bites. He used bash his head on a rock trying to kill a belly crawler i had, very brutal towards fish he don't like

Nice! Are their growth rates pretty average for CA?
They are not the fastest nor slowest i have found..With fast being 11- 12 inches from 2 inches in about a year and slow being 5 or 6 inches from 2 inches in a year....Mine is In between being at least 8 inches maybe close to
nine at this time...Here are a couple of pics For you to compare From this past September and October...
