I've had my motas for about 2 weeks, and it has been rough! I've never had a mating pair of any animal, so jumping straight into Monster fish breeding was a blind step off of a curb in the hopes my feet would find ground.
Today my male, Buddy, started behaving much more gently toward his mate, Chica. She has, for the most part, stayed in her new hiding spots. She's never had anywhere to hide before and stayed for over I hours the first day. Today, she is much more relaxed-not on guard.
She has been coming out just to eat and Buddy makes sure she gets enough before she rushes back down into the dark. He begs me for food then gently nudges her toward it before he will eat. He stands guard-if I get close he rushes toward me, teeth ready.
They are amazing animals.
