Hello Everyone,

I decided to redo my 225 and make it into a vivarium with SA cichlids. I stacked manzanita branches in the back and placed pothos, peace lily, and a spider plant into the gaps so that their roots would be submerged.

Fish are 8 juvenile Red Head Tapajos Geos, 8 Wild Brazilian Angelfish, 2 Threadfind Acara's, 12 Serpentine tetras, 12 Columbian tetras, 16 silver hatchets, and 4 Crenicichla Compressiceps.

Looks great!!

What has your experience with the Cr. compressiceps been? I tried a larger pike and found it to be too shy and space consuming as a solo fish (which was the only place I could keep it at the time), so I've been thinking about some dwarf pikes recently. Compressiceps seem to be one of the most colorful, but I've heard they are down right vicious with one another almost regardless of the space they are given.

Great tank! One of the best I've seen & I really dig the stocking too. A shoal of cories would give the bottom some good movement.

Tanks like yours really inspire people to do more. (Me among them.)

Questions of interest (for me and likely others):

1) what level / amount of lighting do you find to be useful?
2) are you adding any plant nutrients and if so what?
3) is that the peace lily blooming?

Regardless, well done.

I've had compressiceps on a few occasions and I've always kept them in larger tanks due to their conspecific aggression. They are relatively easy fish to work with and they aren't too difficult to ween onto prepared foods. I start with frozen and freeze dried foods. I kept mine in tap which is 7.5 where I live. They are compatible with anything bigger than a guppy or neon and mine have even left apistos aline in my tank though I would caution you against that in a smaller tank.

My lighting is a 4x54 watt t5ho suspended above the tank on a timer with a 10 hour photoperiod. I have root tabs for the swords and plan to dose K only. I did high tech planted tanks for years and am not a fan of the maintenance each day and week. All my current plants are easy including the peace lily from home Depot and pothos.

ThanKS for all the comments.
