You buy the salt from a lps, I use instant ocean salt mix because it's a widely loved brand and it mixes faster, also isent too pricy. You'll want to get something to hold the water wile it's mixing. A trash-can, a smaller unused tank, rubber made tub or even a 5g bucket from lows. Add freshwater ( hot water so it mixes easier) to what ever your using to mix the water in. Declorinate it and I normaly use 2cups of the salt mix per 5gals. Dump it in and use something to stir it with. Once you can tell that the salts up and off the bottom of the mixing tank. Put a powerhead in mixing tank and have it run for 12-24 hours. Test the level of the salt and it should read between 1.020-1.025. I keep my tanks at 1.023 to keep it in the middle so if it evaporates, the salt level dosent go too high and if I top it off and put too much in it, it won't go too low if extra top off water gose in.
