is there any tricks to maintaining sand?
i read somewher about having to stir it but i didnt know if it was true
can anyone hook me up with some input. im looking into getting some rays

at the 'Bama Breeze
Since rays bury in the sand they ill naturally keep the sand "stirred." There is really no trick into maintaning it really. Sand is no neccesary for rays though.

I used to keep sand with my rays...they'd kick it up into my filters and clog them up....ruined a few impellers too.

Dont use sand itll ruin your filter. If you want to get the surface area that the sand has, get a fluidized bed filter, if you dont like a bare bottom go with smooth gravel. A bare bottom is good for the beggining at least, because you can make sure your new ray is acclimating n eatin well
