Bama
I've raised them to 10-12" in high-end brackish to marine. pH 8 and higher with lots of aragonite and crushed oyster shell as a substrate. They prefer green (algae) turbid estuary waters. These fish seem to be constant grazers on hair algae and plants. I kept them fed on algae wafers, rabbit pellets, cabbage leaves, peas, and anything else green. Forget about keeping any live plants in a scat tank. They'll eat any plant and even dig up and eat the roots. They prefer communities. If you decide on scats, get a nice big shoal of them.
