I found the greatest, fastest way to get beneficial bacteria into the tank...I went to my lfs with a20l bucket, and asked them clean out their sponge filters into the bucket, squeezed all of the filters out.
Took that home with bubbler attached to feed the bacteria, then got a hose and funnel, put the funnel into the end of the hose, put the other end against the canister inlet, and slowly poured the water from the bucket into the inlet....so none went into my actual tank
Started populating overnight nearly! The cloudyness in my tank halved overnight!
