Sometime within the next week or two I am going to be setting up a standard 55.
primary fish I want to keep is the Astatotilpia Latifasciata. Probably start with a group of 6 to start.
would like to add a second species for a bit of variety. I was thinking of Pseudocrenilabrus Victoriae. Anyone have any experience with the Vic? Do they play nice and are they compatible with the Zebras?
If no would any other species with the Zebra prefer to stay with other Victoria species but would also consider something small like a Julidochromis Gombi.
would really appreciate any feedback.

The Victoriae and riverine and may prefer a lower pH than the rift lake africans. Still waters and a planted tank. Good tankmates may include African tetras and hatchetfish.

I might try them with yellow labs.

I was thinking that might be a possibility. Color wise I think the match would be good. I have kept labs in the past though and was going to do plants in this. Will think on that. Thanks. I emailed Dave’s at rare fish where I would be purchasing from. Hoping he can give me some insight.

I had them with haps and peacocks...too aggressive, at least for the wimpy ones I keep. Never tried with mbuna though.

The tank has been obtained. It is going to need some work before it is ready to set up. This tank actually used to belong to me but I have it to a friend about 5-6 years ago when I upgraded to my 150. They didn’t want to keep fish any longer so back to me it comes. I will post updates as they happen.

Wow. Time really flies. This prcess has been much longer than anticipated. Finally got the back of the tank painted black. Picked up a new Eheim pro 600 for the main filtration. Hoping to grab substrate this weekend. Snagged this light Current Orbit LED with LOOP controller. This is a light for marine tanks but I imagine it will work. Got it for a steal and couldn’t pass it up.

I like the rocks, did you decide to go with labs?
