Google is your friend here. Bull sharks have a distinctive smile, many visible rows of smaller pointy, gnarly teeth as opposed to the larger triangular serrated teeth of other carcharhiniforms.

Makos arent quite triangular either, the main reason im leaning that way here is the snout length and shape, which im not really sure about the more i look at. I cant tell if its smashed or contorted a bit. Could be a dusky shark or similar as well...the picture just doesnt tell enough to be sure imo.

Ehhh...color very unreliable when id'ing long dead fish at a market imo.

The number one thing that narrows this fish down in my mind is where it is residing. At a fish market in malaysia. Afaik the top sharks sold for shark fin soup are mako and houndshark like Deadeye Deadeye suggested. It could be a beefy houndshark but my money is still on mako.

Also, your locality means nothing as to exclusivity of species imo...at my closest seafood market in DC i can buy fish shipped in from every corner of the world.

I disagree. With numerous shark species around Malaysia, it is very likely that the subject shark was caught locally.
