Is a single CFL bulb enough to light a 20x12x12 tank? I plan to put low to medium light plants in there. I don't really have much knowledge on what CFL bulb I would use so could you please help me on what to use if a single bulb is enough. Thank you :)

Let me add more info to the question to make it more simple. If I would use a single 20W 6500k CFL is it enough?

Just like any sort of aquarium lighting it all depends on how good the reflector is.... It should be fine, I would get a clamp dome light and hang it 8" above the tank... But I would paint the inside of the dome light white if it's not white inside, because white reflects more light than galvanized silver.

And if the plants aren't doing well under the single dome light, then just get another dome light and hang it 8" above the tank!!!!
