Single fish for a 55g

U can do a lot more than 5 exo's in a 55g. More like 30+ most don't exceed 4" in captivity.
A lot of Serra species of piranha for life.

30+ 3-4" fish in a 55? Seriously? Your talking 90-120" of fish in a small tank, bio load would be unimaginable, and everyday huge wc would be needed.....I'd say Strollo had a better ballpark, better to understock then over stock, maybe 5-15 exos.

And no serra deserves a 4'x12" tank, piranhas are active species and need space, you said for life, maybe a growout is fine. Now if the op had a 75 that would change the ball game drastically!

This is what I have so far

1. 5 silver dollars, albino long fin pleco.

2.a breeding pair of JD or EBJD male with a JD female, 1 pleco.

3. 30x tiger barbs, 1 pleco

4. Breeding pair of fire mouth cichlids, 1 rubber nose pleco.

5. Breeding pair of green terrors, 1 pleco.

6. 5 exodons, 1 pleco

7. Angel fish, 1 pleco

8. Angel fish, 1 pleco

9. ????

10. ????

You could combine your #1 and #3.
I kept 25 or so tiger barbs with 6 silver dollars and 2 bn plecos in a 55.

30 would be fine. I would not keep less than 20 of them. They turn on each other if kept in small schools.

You can't do 5-15 exos in a 55. Although it would be ideal bio load wise, they'd kill each other. They really have to be overstocked in order to not pick each other off, 20-30 minimum.
