Small chip in glass....is it safe?

There was an 8 ft. tank in our LFS that had a number of large chips and big air bubbles in the seams. It looked so unsafe I was afraid to walk in front of it. The tank was there for at least five years without incident. Here is a picture I took of the koi (someone wanted a picture on another forum). I wish I had brought my good camera to the store and taken some close up shots of the front corners.

Maybe consider siliconing some sort of edge guard?
I think it will be fine as long as the chip isnt into the silicone.

id seal it to be safe

x2. May as well play it safe and add some aquarium silicone on and around it.
