My snakehead Channa gachua is sick. he has on one side a hole that Is black and on the other side a bump that looks like a tumor. I once treated him for bacterial infection for two weeks but that didn’t seem to do anything. He is currently in an aquarium of 300 litres with a few bichirs and another Channa gachua who all seem to be fine. He eats well and doesn’t seem to have pain. Bud lately he is floating near the surface he can go back down but he stays there for most of the day before he lay on the ground like the other snakehead. I have tested the water for ammonia and that is near zero. The fish has had this for almost 3/4 year but it seems is had gotten worse . Can somebody tell me what it is and or what I have to do.210F3637-A869-4B51-B0F2-4C1A6E20322A.jpegF086BB4D-2775-443C-B784-FAE1803720E7.jpeg91258F3B-7B19-494E-9857-55CEE1D8D93C.jpegF514866B-A182-4A1D-A793-79D3FCBFF788.jpeg011A5DC8-AAF9-4E81-AA1E-39B9E927B6B7.jpeg79219394-E1C5-48D4-96BA-D6AC5F3CAB36.jpeg101F3D8A-E32C-45D5-A1DD-49C7D05D3A9D.jpeg406951B3-03BC-469A-A7B4-501A01DB2B92.jpegA2D12D13-B0B1-466E-A886-23F2BE4887B2.jpeg

It looks like an infected injury… I think
I would treat with antibiotics and dab injury with hydrogen peroxide

Not sure it could be a tumor or growth. I’d separate the fish and keep in a lower temperature tank in the 60s. Believe your fish can handle colds temps. I’d dose some epsom salt to the tank and apply hydrogen peroxide to the area. What meds did you use 2 weeks ago?

You have received good advise. Together with the suggestions given, I would recommend a major increase in water changes (volume & frequency). 11-20% weekly is not cutting it and this is not surprising. Ammonia should be undetectable and nitrate is probably high. Suggest testing for it. But antibiotics or any any medicines would only help improving and avoiding further damage if conditions are improved. Good luck!

What’s in your pharmacy should be fine. 3% should be fine. Increase water changes to 50% weekly with testing.

Unfortunately I woke up this morning and the fish died. Thanks for all the help I recieved I will still do bigger water changes because I don’t want other fish to have it.
