Can you make a sump out of a 75 or 120 for a pond? The pump I am looked is rated for 3000 gallon pond do I need to put the same kind of pump in the sump tank above the pond? Do the flow rates of the pond pump and the sump pump above the pond need to match?

I use 2 75 gallon tanks for my 720. The pumps are rated at 2400 gph. The pumps pump the water out of the sump into the aquarium. The water coming out of the aquarium going into the sump is gravity feed. So the sump never goes dry. If you set it upright the aquarium will never over flow. I hope this helps.
