What i've learned in the marine/freshwater world of fish keeping. Keeping agressive predetor fish it's always going to be a game of constant guessing. I could tell you countless stories of fish compatible with certain fish...then they get picked on. Maybe you can try a red devil? Don't know how nasty these guys are...never owned them. For catfish, um gonna look some up.

Interesting vid of a jaguare with some tankmates, don't know the name's of the other jags except for the devil (I think)..and a parrot

Thing is Jaguars get pretty big and are usually very agressive cichllids. If you want to put something that gets as big as him and equally agressive i think Midas would be a better choice
