Hi I might be interested in getting 1, was wondering if any of you thought Craigslist would be a good source to buy 1 cheap? Or is their a known problem when dealing with Craigslist about cameras? What dslr camera do you recommend?

My dad has an old EOS 3000 and its really cool but it only takes film. Good pics too but just film... I want digital. Also I think only want dslr.

Nikon D3000 & D3100 for just over $300 on primotronix. Definitely check any electrical device purchased through craigslist though, you already know that. Always someone trying to make a buck.

Pick up a used canon dslr body and use the lens from the film camera. I had some old film lenses from a canon eos elan so I bought a canon 350d body for $50 on kijiji. So far I'm loving it, it takes great pictures.

Kk thanks guys. My dad has some coworkers that are very serious professional photographers. He told me he would ask what model they recommend on a strict budget, used, and for newbies. I think ive narrowed it to a nikon or canon. I like the nikon 5000/6000/7000/8000 and the eos 20d/300d/350d/400d/etc...

Idk how much. I couldnt even give a ballpark figure. Under 500$ probably. Im only paying for a portion. And idk how much my dad wants to spend. When we first talked he thought i was talking about a 500$-600$ investment. And he even said ill pay for some of it. Then i showed him you can get them used for under 200$. Probably anywhere from 50$ to 200$ is possible with a high probability of under 150$. Im thinking 120$ is a good number. Im not picky.

I would try and stay away from bridge cameras. Go with an older dslr and you will be much happier, you have so much more flexibility and freedom. If you think you are going to be interested in photography your going to regret going with the bridge camera.
