Hey all, I wanted to give an update of my tank that I have outside of my house. I live in Temecula, CA (so cal) and the temps get pretty cold. There was a streak of consecutive 30-35 degree lows and the Texas cichlids all made it. I had some albino Cory's in there and those passed away. I also had some convicts and they passed away as well. The five Texas cichlids all made it though!20200331_171248.jpg20200331_171436.jpg20200331_171018.jpg

If they are actually Texas cichlids and not H. Carpintis they can see very low temps in their natural habitat in Texas. So its not a surprise if they are H. Cyano and lived thru a couple cold spells.

I still have a hard time identifying carpintis and cyano depending on where the carpintis was from and quality. I thought Cyano's didnt have blue spots just a goldish to silver color spots. But I have seen quite a few posts where people say they can have blue spots. Thats what throws me but I would like to see someone who really knows about Cyanos confirm if they only have silver to gold colored spots. The fish in the op pics look just like the one I have. I have always wondered if its a low quality carpintis, cyano carpintis mix or a cyano.
