Thinking about getting into some more serious monster fish and at one point want to get rays. Any general advice on Orinoco Rays or Atlantic Rays I should know? (The latter is eurhaline)

With rays tank size is a deal breaker. I build a 3x8 footprint 400G tank and it was not big enough for a pair or black diamonds. Well it was probably big enough but barely. In my opinion you need a 10x4 foot tank IMO like 36" tall would be best. Thats a BIG tank. So consider that before you decide.

The height doesn’t really matter for rays, i think 8 x 4 x 2 would be minimum for motoro/ BD rays, if I’m not wrong Matteus Matteus Matteus Matteus or Gpdriftwood Gpdriftwood Gpdriftwood Gpdriftwood kept them in that tank size before. Good luck! ?

I agree 36" is not needed. However if you ever want to breed the higth will help that situation

how does height help with breeding?
its about the male flipping the female to get a hold of her. More height helps with that

Motoro rays. Mine is 30" round an housed with redtails, arowana, and achara cats.

VERY HEARTY species. She eats heavy so over kill on filtration would be helpful
