flowerhorns are not a specie, they are a hybrid of various cichlid species. they originally were bred in southern asia, but are now bred in many other parts of the world as well

Well..this are considered to be 'man-made' fishes...and some people in the Europe call them 'Frankenfish' as in the context of Frankenstein...

Load of rubbish normally trimac x synspilus or synspilus x labiatus or whatever. pretty fish but no good to the serious cichlid hobbyist (when Synspilum, Paratilapia, Umbriferus etc are available why have these..??) and tehy are killing the genetic pool . Rant over..
Having said that, they do look amazing.
