Do you run a heater 24/7 and usually have the lights on? IMO, you could cut down costs greatly by not using a heater and only turning the lights on when you actually go to view the fish. The fish should be fine at room temp, unless you like your house feeling like a fridge. Just some thoughts, if you haven't tried that to see how much it cuts down on your energy bill. Also look into investing in a solar panel to run the power for the tank, or even your house, during the daytime.
